Faith Goals

Dear Family & Friends, The Bible teaches that we are “saved by grace through faith” (Eph. 2:8-9) When the Bible speaks of being saved, it is talking about something much more than being forgiven and going to heaven versus hell. The word “saved” means to be made whole, into Christ’s likeness. It takes the supernatural provision of God (i.e. “grace”) to change us into Christ’s image and enable us to fulfill our destiny. We access this amazing grace through faith. Faith is a combination of beliefs, attitudes, and actions that position us to receive all of God’s goodness and gifts. “Faithing” for grace applies in the natural realm as well. There is a grace-filled realm of travel called jet airplanes. To enjoy the benefits of air travel, one must exercise a great deal of faith. Just yesterday, Janet and I practiced faith in the grace of flight. We walked onto a Southwest Airlines jet, trusting the laws of aerodynamics, the pilots, the plane itself, the mechanics, the air traffic control, and much more. Because of faith we enjoyed the grace of getting from El Paso to Kansas City in five hours, a two day trip by car. Helping each person set faith goals in five major areas of grace (Christ Himself, Community, Character, Calling, Competence) is at the heart of the Rock Tribe’s strategy for making disciples of Christ. Getting each member of our family into a Search & Rescue Team (2 people committed to discipleship and evangelism) helps each person have a work out partner. Faith requires a fight, so a comrade is absolutely essential to winning the battle for grace. Check out our website for more information about Search & Rescue Teams: www.rocktribe.org Let me encourage you to establish specific faith goals in one or all of the five areas of grace mentioned above. Then, get into a Search & Rescue Team to insure you have the support you will need to fight the good fight of faith. 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, Tim Johns
